SEGA vice-president teases Sonic the Hedgehog announcement “coming soon”

Another tease appears as the franchise’s upcoming anniversary approaches.

In a interview with the Japanese publication Famitsu, SEGA Corporation vice-president Shuji Utsumi teased that a Sonic announcement is “nearing.”

It is yet another tease as the blue blur’s upcoming anniversary approaches this June, with fans expecting some sort of announcement at either this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo or on the franchise’s anniversary date of 23 June.

The tease echoed previous quotes from SEGA executives to “stay tuned” for details on the blue blur. Last year, Sonic chief brand officer Ivo Gerscovich said he “couldn’t wait” to share the franchise’s future plans and advised fans, “Sonic’s just getting started.”

Meanwhile, Sonic Studio head Takashi Iizuka announced in 2019 that preparations were underway to make 2021 a big year for Sonic.
