Before the game was officially announced early Wednesday, fans learned the first new details about the upcoming classic collection via an online storefront.
A PlayStation Store listing reportedly published in the Australia and New Zealand regions described Origins as a “re-defined” classic experience, with new unlockables, an “anniversary mode”, and additional animations.

- Classic Re-defined: Explore the classic Sonic titles in high-resolution, with all-new opening and ending animations for each title!

- Classic and Anniversary Mode: Choose to Spin Dash your way through the numerous zones in Classic mode with the game’s original resolution and limited lives, or the new Anniversary mode with unlimited lives and revamped fullscreen resolution.
Sonic Origins will be released during Sonic’s birthday, 23 June 2022 on the Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox platforms, as well as on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
