Sonic Revolution announces digital event for 2021

The fan-run Sonic the Hedgehog convention is going virtual for the second time.

Sonic Revolution event organizers announced a new digital convention event to be held this summer.

The event, the second of its kind, will be hosted once again on Discord. Plans for an in-person event in Whittier, California were scrapped due to on-going issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Special guests confirmed to appear in the digital event include Sonic Boom executive producer Bill Freiberger, writers Alan Denton and Greg Hahn; IDW Sonic artists Reggie Graham and Gigi Dutriex; and voice actor Mike Pollock. A number of content creators and artists are expected to attend as well.

The event is expected to emulate last year’s “virtual convention” aesthetic, with panels, meet-and-greets, artist saloons, and a televised feed. Tails’ Channel executive directors Evan Tingle and Ryan Scarlett appeared in a meet-and-greet panel last year. They were co-joined with former Tails’ Channel owner Matt Mannheimer.

Sonic Revolution was founded in 2013 to mirror the long-sought Summer of Sonic experience in the United States. Since then, various in-person meetups were annually held until 2020, when the event moved online.

The digital convention is scheduled to be held between the 19th to the 20th of June, 2021.
