New “narrative driven” mobile Sonic game described in new SEGA job listing

The listing described a “new, exciting, and ambitious narrative driven platform game.”

A job listing from SEGA HARDlight seemingly hinted that a new mobile Sonic the Hedgehog game may be in development.


The British-based mobile development unit said in a listing that they are searching for a “lead artist” for a new Sonic game for mobile devices. The title was described as a “new, exciting, and ambitious narrative driven platform game.”

You will be hands on, creating highly compelling artwork that meets the visual and technical requirements of the game whilst serving as the benchmark for artistic excellence and work ethic.

Being part of SEGA, you enjoy and have experience in creating stylised art, exciting worlds and colourful characters.

It was also specified that the mobile game has the intention to “push the quality towards console levels,” and that the position is very “hands-on”, in that it may serve as a “benchmark for artistic excellence.”

Part of the lead artist position consist at helping to drive both the artistic vision and the internal art team to produce art through effective communication, collaboration, planning, and mentorship.

HARDlight has worked on six mobile Sonic titles over the years, with the most noteworthy ones being Sonic Dash and Sonic Forces: Speed Battle.

A SEGA representative has yet to officially acknowledge the opening on social media.
