Ben Schwartz’s role as Sonic nominated for best animated performance in Hollywood Critics Association Awards

The Sonic movie is nominated for three awards in the upcoming Hollywood Critics Association Awards.

Sonic the Hedgehog, the highest grossing video game movie in North America, got its’ fifth involvement at an award ceremony, with three nominations.

The Hollywood Critics Association has recently revealed their nominations for their fourth annual HCA Film Awards. The Sonic movie was nominated for the following categories:

Best Animated or VFX Perfomance

  • Ben Schwartz – Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Cathy Ang – Over the Moon
  • Honor Kneafsey – Wolfwalkers 
  • Jamie Foxx – Soul
  • Tina Fey – Soul 

Best Blockbuster

  • Birds of Prey
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Tenet
  • The Old Guard
  • Wonder Woman 1984

Best Visual Effects

  • Greg Steele and Annemarie Griggs – Birds of Prey
  • Ged Wright – Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Andrew Jackson – Tenet
  • Jonathan Dearing – The Invisible Man 
  • Matt Kasmir, Chris Lawrence, Dave Watkins, and Max Solomon – The Midnight Sky

The winners will be revealed through a livestream on the official HCA Facebook page and YouTube channel on 5 March beginning at 8:00 pm ET. 

The Sonic movie has also been recently nominated for Favourite Movie and Favourite Actor in Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards. Jim Carrey also won an award for Best Villain in the Critics’ Choice Super Awards.
