Storyboard artist Fill Marc Sagadraca to work on upcoming Sonic Movie sequel at Blur Studio, hints Tyson Hesse involvement

A storyboard artist announced involvement in the Sonic Movie sequel in a now-deleted tweet.

Former Star Trek: Lower Decks, Rick & Morty, and DuckTales storyboard artist Fill Marc Sagadraca announced late Monday that he will be a part of the story team behind Paramount Pictures’ upcoming 2022 sequel of Sonic the Hedgehog.

In a now-deleted statement, the artist said he will work alongside Sonic movie designer Tyson Hesse and director Jeff Fowler at the Culver City-based visual effects company Blur Studio.

Hesse did not confirm his involvement in the sequel. Fowler has already confirmed his involvement earlier this summer.

I wrapped up work on Lower Decks Season 2 last week. Excited 2 announce I’ve been working on the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Story Team with Jeff Fowler and Tyson Hesse at Blur Studio. My first live action feature coming in 2022.

Sagadraca’s post on Instagram – without the acknowledgement of either Fowler or Hesse, was also deleted. Sagadraca revealed a few photos of his visit at the SEGA of America and Blur Studio offices in the Los Angeles, California area.

“So glad I don’t have to commute,” added Sagadraca.

Blur, founded by Sonic producer Tim Miller, was a key unit behind the visual production of the first theatrical production. The studio, in cooperation with Moving Picture Company and others, played a pivotal role in summoning Hesse to kickstart the redesign process of the titular character.

Sagadraca has more than 15 years of experience in the television and film industry and worked on projects at Titmouse, Cartoon Network Studios, Fox Television Animation, and Disney Television Animation.

The Sonic movie sequel will be Sagadraca’s first live action project, as well as Fowler’s second directed film.

The sequel is scheduled to hit theatres on April 2022, with principal filming tentatively scheduled to commence in British Columbia, Canada on March 2021.
