Robotnik takes flight during Sonic movie sequel filming in Fort Langley

“It’s a bird, it’s a plane…”

Fort Langley residents looked up Monday afternoon after a figure dressed up as Doctor Robotnik was shot to the skies. It was among the many sequences filmed for Paramount’s upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie sequel.

Multiple reports from onlookers and local media suggested that the figure was actor Jim Carrey who was seen “flying” around Mary Avenue and Glover Road in the Canadian village community of Fort Langley, British Columbia.

Local Vancouver radio station CJAX-FM joked on Twitter that they “can’t wait for the scene when Sonic buys an antique chair.”

The Canadian-American actor is expected to reprise the role of the evil villain. Carrey’s Robotnik performance in the first Sonic film won an award from the Critics Choice Association for Best Villain.

Meanwhile, filming for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in Langley is expected to continue through Friday.
