Actress Tika Sumpter has confirmed that she will reprise her role as “Maddie” in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog sequel, and announced that one of the filming locations for the sequel will be based in Hawaii.
In a taped interview with Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest that aired today, Sumpter expressed excitement over the upcoming filming of the sequel, which is scheduled to begin in March around the Vancouver, British Columbia area.
Tails’ Channel has since learned that actor Ben Schwartz will reprise his voice-over role as Sonic, and Jim Carrey is expected to return to his live-action role as Doctor Robotnik.
There is no information on who will take the role of Miles “Tails” Prower, who was voiced in the first film by long-time franchise voice actress Colleen O’Shaughnessey. Actor James Marsden has yet to confirm a reprisal as well.
Tails’ Channel has reached out to the state film commission for comment.
