Sonic Movie set to debut in Chinese cinemas on July 31st

After being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sonic is now on his way to Chinese cinemas.

Originally planned to be released on February 28th, Sonic the Hedgehog will now debut in Chinese cinemas after being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Variety, Sonic will debut on the big screens on July 31st, during the second opening weekend in the Chinese market after cinemas’ re-opening on July 20th.

Sonic the Hedgehog will go against one re-release and an original animated Chinese film that are also set for debut on July 31st. These movies being Big Hero 6, a 2015 Disney film, and Mr. Miao.

After opening to modest numbers in Japan, everyone is curious to see how the film will do in the biggest movie market after the U.S.
