Sonic 30th Anniversary broadcast officially announced

The future of Sonic is approaching.

SEGA officially announced a broadcast dedicated to Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th anniversary today.

It is called “Sonic Central”, not to be confused with the popular YouTube channel, and it intends to feature a “first look at some of the projects, partnerships, and events” for the blue blur’s birthday. SEGA’s divisions, like HARDlight, were also confirmed to attend the festivities.

Various brands tweeted their support or shared the news about the programme, like PlayStation UK and Summer Game Fest.

Not a day goes by where I don’t feel immense pride for having anything to do with this franchise. Here’s to another 30.

Ben Schwartz, voice-over of Sonic in Paramount’s “Sonic the Hedgehog”

After SEGA published a video titled “Unstoppable”, which featured faces like artists Tyson Hesse and Evan Stanley, and Sonic social media manager Katie Chrzanowski, SEGA of Japan’s Aaron Webber tweeted that there were “countless others behind the scenes” working hard for the anniversary.

One of my favorite things about this is that all those faces you see – Evan, Tyson, and Katie are people who grew up with Sonic and now work on it officially. There are also countless others behind the scenes, all working hard for Sonic’s 30th this year!

The programme is scheduled to be broadcast 27 May at 12:00 pm ET, and Tails’ Channel will broadcast the event.

Updated 12:50 pm ET will new information.
