Sonic and Angry Birds crossover announced across five mobile titles

The long awaited collaboration between two major video game franchises kicks off

The Sonic the Hedgehog social media accounts announced today that a crossover between the blue blur and Angry Birds was imminent.

Fans of both franchises have been wondering as to what this could entail, and it appears we already have our answer thanks to an editorial released on Google Play today, which has since been deleted.

Per the editorial, the limited-time crossover will take place across five mobile titles, with two from the Sonic franchise, and three from the Angry Birds franchise.

The games and the crossover details are as follows:

  • In Sonic Dash, players will be able to collect character cards to unlock Red and Chuck from Angry Birds as playable characters, as well as themed items.
  • In Angry Birds 2, players will have a chance to obtain eight hats of Sonic and his friends, which will allow players to increase their flock power, as well as access a Sonic-themed adventure.
  • In Angry Birds Friends, a time-limited tournament will allow players to take down pigs in Sonic-themed levels.
  • In Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, players will be able to race against Red for a chance to win an exclusive Challenger Chest, as well as collect character cards to unlock Chuck.
  • In Angry Birds Dream Blast, players will be able to play Sonic-themed levels in an attempt to get on the leaderboard the fastest.

Players won’t have to wait long, as the crossover will start on 14 March at 3 am EDT when the tournament starts in Angry Birds Friends, followed at 7 am EDT when the Sonic-themed levels drop in Angry Birds Dream Blast.
