The Crush 40 hit “Live and Learn” will be included in the third Sonic the Hedgehog film, lead singer Johnny Gioeli told Tails’ Channel late Monday.
Gioeli said that Paramount Pictures secured the right to use only the Sonic Adventure 2 song, but did not confirm a direct involvement in the film’s production, as initial reports erroneously implied.
The singer also told Tails’ Channel that he was unaware of the studio’s intentions to use “Live and Learn”, either in its original studio form, or in a remix by the movie’s composer, Tom Holkenborg, or another artist.
“It’s in. To what degree? I don’t know,” Gioeli said in a reply to Tails’ Channel. “But Paramount has it 100 per cent.”
Paramount has yet to officially acknowledge “Live and Learn” in the upcoming theatrical film in writing, even though many fans heard a rendition at the tail end of last Friday’s title reveal trailer.
The addition came after a public fan-run rally to motivate Paramount to feature Crush 40 in the Sonic 2 original soundtrack. In a 2020 interview, Gioeli said that the band played “a massive part in the history and life of some very important Sonic games,” and hoped that the studio reached out to him.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was widely acknowledged to adapt various elements from fan favourite Sonic Adventure 2, and the Shadow the Hedgehog spin-off game.
The third Sonic film was scheduled for a December 2024 release in the United States.
