JAKKS Pacific to produce Sonic Prime merchandise

“JAKKS has consistently captured Sonic’s signature persona, and we’re thrilled to have them on board for another partnership,” says SEGA’s Michael Cisneros.

American merchant JAKKS Pacific will produce official merchandise for WildBrain’s upcoming Sonic Prime animation, SEGA announced in a statement early Tuesday.

The California-based company was newly assigned to design, manufacture, and promote various forms of products for the upcoming Modern Sonic cartoon, which will include action figures, playsets, vehicles, plushies and more. Disguise, Inc, a subsidiary of JAKKS Pacific, will produce a line-up of costume accessories for Prime as well.

SEGA of America’s Michael Cisneros expected the new contract to provide “innovative products to audiences everywhere that will bring [Sonic] to life,” in a year fronted by major releases for the franchise, like the Sonic movie sequel in April, and Frontiers in the holiday season.

In addition to the high-octane video games they continue to release and the Sonic Movie 2 coming next year, Sonic Prime’s premiere on Netflix in 2022 will keep fans engaged with the property and give JAKKS a whole new Sonic multiverse to explore through toys and costumes. Our customers are not just kids, but also collectors, and this brand consistently hits the mark with retailers and fans year after year.
